![]() This and the last single is making me wonder about how “Secret” will turn out… Both the Ladies Night and BLUE BIRD remixes were good though taking both tracks into wildly different genres and I would say would be great off as their own tracks. As uplifting as it is, I find the hook to be a little annoying and the chorus dry, makes me wonder why it was a B-side (which was given its own PV and placement on the album). It’s not terrible persay, but I don’t find myself remembering it too hard (other than the title itself). Though the synthwork in the building back up is wild and I found myself enough this a lot too.Īs the 2nd and last single before “Secret” came out, I found BLUE BIRD to be kind of a mediocre single only saved by BOTH remixes this time around! BLUE BIRD is basically all her prior summer songs melded into one and unfortunately I’ve seen that comment made a few times around. Wasn’t expecting the music to cut around 2:30 to kick off the verses, but the build-up back to the chorus is interesting and follows BLUE BIRD pretty well throughout. Also it’s not quite long as it’s 6:20 in length so it’s not going to make you too bored. The intro does build in nicely, not staying in the same bars too long. Of course the single needed to include a remix for the A-side and we’re already going for a trance-centric remix. One of the more impressive remixes Ayu has! You’d think it wouldn’t work, but damn it sounds really cool and there’s still some digital effects which was cool too. Considering the original is a wild ride, this rock remix of the song makes the song sound more aggressive and cooler and I’m loving the riffs, especially in the choruses. Oh hey, a remix of an album track from “(miss)understood”! Not a song I was expecting to be remixed, but here we are and I fondly remember when I first got into Ayu back in ’08 that I LOVED Ladies Night and remembering looking for it and finding this remix as well. I’m not sure how to feel about this one as it’s kind of an uplifting track like “Born To Be…” was, but the hooks are a little more grating and the chorus feels a bit dead to me. It’s a little strange that it’s the hook of the song as its repeated quite a bit. Huh, this is actually a B-side eh? Yeah, Beautiful Fighters is definitely on the same kind of wtf mood as “Bold & Delicious” was with the kind of marching upbeat sound for its intro. Though if I had a mindset when this came out, I probably would have said, it’s a less interesting “fairyland” sadly. Honestly, it’s decent, but like we’ve gotten this kind of track before and more of them to come in her future releases as well so this is kind of a bit generic in my point of view, listening to it in 2023. Though once we get into the chorus, the song gets more upbeat and once again, feels like I’m listening to “fairyland” a little bit here and even more so I can hear a little of “Born To Be…” as well here. I have to say, the light intro and first verse was really pretty and kind of loved Ayu’s soft vocals a LOT. ![]() It seems that BLUE BIRD is actually the summer theme if we’re going by the look of the PV here.
